A little about Dr. Amber...
Dr. Amber McKinnon is an experienced primary care naturopathic doctor and the founder and owner of Naturally Inclined Health, a general family practice located in the heart of Edmonton’s storied Old Strathcona. She is an active member in the naturopathic community, having co-founded and served on the board of the Alberta Association of Naturopathic Doctors. She proudly sees patients at any stage of health, and of all ages, identities, and backgrounds.

Starting her journey through higher education in her hometown of Edmonton, Dr. McKinnon first completed a Bachelor of Science specializing in immunology and infection at the University of Alberta. She was privileged to work alongside talented researchers in the departments of social psychology, medical microbiology, and immunology, becoming published in the medical journal Virology for her work on the Vaccinia virus.

Once finished her bachelor of science with specialization, she was accepted into the Boucher Institute of Naturopathic Medicine in Vancouver, graduating in 2010. The highlight of the four-year post-graduate degree was practicing abroad as part of a medical brigade working in clinics and hospitals on the island of Ometepe, Nicaragua. This life-changing experience taught Dr. McKinnon more than the applications of naturopathic care, but also how globalization and socioeconomic policy can impact the health of a nation.

She returned from time abroad inspired and began her naturopathic medical practice at home in Edmonton shortly after. Her dedication has since grown it into a passionate and humbled appreciation for the human body, its capacity for healing, and the incredible power of interpersonal connections. With a lot of hard work and a little good luck, Dr. McKinnon was able to expand her practice and open the Naturally Inclined Health clinic in 2018. Every detail in the clinic space is carefully considered and selected by her so that patients feel safe, cared for, and comfortable enough to heal and grow.

Using natural means to promote health beyond the core naturopathic modalities of nutrition, herbal medicine, homeopathy, lifestyle counseling, naturopathic skeletal manipulations, traditional oriental medicine, and acupuncture, Dr. McKinnon also applies her additional advanced training in Bowen therapy, intravenous therapies, chelation, and various injection therapies including prolotherapy, neural therapy, mesotherapy, biopuncture, and trigger point therapy. She uses extensive knowledge in biochemistry and physiology firmly grounded in the naturopathic principles to choose individualized treatments for each patient, looking to the root cause of imbalance or disease to facilitate the body’s path back to health.
